The Boca Raton August Stack: Free Fridays at Mizner, Four Openings Finding Their Groove, and Two Big Arrivals at Town Center

Most Boca summers taper off in August. This one is doing the opposite. The free concert series at Mizner Park Amphitheater is running its loudest weeks right as four spring openings finally shake off their soft-launch wobble, and the next wave at Town Center at Boca Raton is close enough that residents can start guessing which lunch spot will get impossible to book by fall. If you live here, the next four weekends are the most planned-out stretch of the calendar.

The thesis for the month is simple: August is not the quiet coda to Boca's summer. It is the week the calendar and the restaurant scene finally line up.

The last Fridays at Mizner, in order

The City of Boca Raton's Summer in the City series is a free, first-come-first-served concert run at the Mizner Park Amphitheater at 590 Plaza Real, and the calendar is public. The 2026 lineup is hosted at Mizner Park Amphitheater, 590 Plaza Real, in the heart of Downtown Boca. Doors have generally opened at 7 PM with music at 8 PM, with one exception at the finale.

Here is what is left on the summer schedule as of this writing:

The Battle of the Bands is the one to plan around. The 6th Annual Battle runs Friday, August 7, 2026, with doors at 6 PM and the show at 7 PM, one hour earlier than the tribute nights. If you have shown up at 7:45 to a tribute concert before and found the lawn full, that earlier start is why.

A few resident-level notes the event pages tend to bury. Free parking is available at City Hall and the Boca Raton Library, food and beverages are for sale inside the venue, no outside alcohol is allowed, and shows are rain or shine. The chair-and-blanket policy still holds, and a limited number of rentable chairs have been available at past shows for $5. If you have out-of-town family in for a long weekend, the August 7 date is the one that reads best on a group text: free, family-friendly, and short enough that dinner still happens after.

For the following week, The Studio at Mizner Park has its own smaller room. After a sold-out spring run, the Magic in Mizner series is returning for the summer. That is the ticketed indoor option once the amphitheater goes quiet.

The four openings that are finally hitting their stride

Spring's restaurant class is what makes August interesting. All four opened between late March and late May, which means by now the kitchen is settled, the reservation book is real, and the staff knows which tables get the afternoon sun. This is the window residents get before the seasonal crowd rediscovers them in November.

Maison Brunch. Maison Brunch opened in April with a French café menu drawn from the Vendée region of France, running from croissants, omelets, and pancakes through quiches, croque-monsieur, and charcuterie boards. Brunch spots in Boca tend to skew American diner or Mediterranean-Israeli. A straight village-French menu is a genuine gap this fills.

Rosalia's Botanical Café. Rosalia's Botanical Café had its ribbon-cutting on May 24 with Mayor Andy Thomson, was created by Ariel and Sherry Solomov in honor of Ariel's grandmother Rosalia, and serves botanical drinks and artisan desserts in a space designed around Boca's own natural setting. The botanical-drink angle is the useful shorthand. This is the address to bookmark for a mid-afternoon meeting that is not a coffee shop and not a full lunch.

Bello Forno Ristorante. Bello Forno opened in April with a menu built on traditional Italian cooking methods, focused on classic flavors, freshness, and simplicity. That is a crowded lane in Boca, so the tell here will be whether it survives past its first slow August. Watching a new Italian room through late summer is the fastest read on whether it belongs in your rotation.

Cookie Head. Cookie Head reopened March 29 with a rotating menu of baked goods, soft serve, and creative combinations, keeping Classic Sugar, Nutella Red Velvet, and Chocolate Chip as staples while past specials have included Cookie Butter Cheesecake, Dubai Chocolate, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch S'Mores. The monthly-rotation model is worth knowing about because it changes how you use the shop. Follow the menu, not the address.

Two more openings from the same window are worth having in your back pocket if you keep drifting north. At Sundy Village just up the road, Drinking Pig BBQ is doing oak-smoked meats with Caribbean and Asian influences, and it is being positioned as one of the development's anchor rooms. Maman, the French café brand, is bringing its pastry-forward daytime menu to Sundy Village and is expected to lean into breakfast and brunch. These sit outside city limits, but they change what a Saturday morning drive looks like for anyone west of the Intracoastal.

What's landing at Town Center next

Two names to watch, both at Town Center at Boca Raton on Glades Road.

Limani Grill is coming in as a Mediterranean seafood room with charcoal-grilled specialties, Greek culinary traditions, and premium ingredients like first-pressed Kalamata olive oil and Santorini capers. That is a specific ingredient list, not marketing filler. If Limani lands the way its Long Island and Manhattan rooms did, it will be the reservation everyone at the tennis center is comparing notes about by winter.

Felice, the New York Tuscan wine bar founded in 2007 on the Upper East Side by Jacopo Giustiniani and now part of SA Hospitality Group, is opening a Town Center location at 6000 Glades Road with handmade pastas and an extensive wine program drawn from the family's own vineyard. The Town Center site currently lists it as "coming soon" without a firm date. That vagueness is normal. What matters is that the space is committed and the parent group also runs Sant Ambroeus, which sets the ceiling for what to expect on service and price.

If you keep a running list of Boca rooms that will be difficult to book by the holidays, these two belong on it before they open.

An August playbook for people who already live here

Here is one way to actually use the next four weekends without treating August as a placeholder month.

1. Friday, July 31. Peace of Woodstock at the amphitheater. Park free at the library, get there by 7:15, and hold dinner for after so you can walk over to one of the newly opened Mizner-adjacent kitchens.
2. Saturday brunch. Maison Brunch for the croque-monsieur. Save Rosalia's for a weekday afternoon when it will actually feel like the room it was designed to be.
3. Friday, August 7. Battle of the Bands. Note the earlier 6 PM doors. This is the family-friendly night to invite the out-of-town group to, and it doubles as a scouting run through the pop-up youth market.
4. Sunday dinner. Bello Forno. A quiet August service is how you find out whether a new Italian room can actually cook.
5. Friday, August 14. Magic in Mizner at The Studio if you want an indoor, ticketed evening. Cookie Head after, when the rotating menu turns over for the month.
6. Late August. Drive up to Sundy Village once for Drinking Pig BBQ and once for Maman. Compare notes with the Boca equivalents before season starts.

Why this stretch matters if you already live here

Every year a handful of residents wait until December to try the places that opened in April. By then the tables are three weeks out, the staff is triple-covered, and the room does not read the way the founders designed it. August is the window where a new Boca kitchen is running at its most honest. It is also the last stretch of the year with a free concert on the calendar and empty parking at the library.
